How to use the Goosicorn Technology Radar

Introduction

Welcome to the Goosicorn Technology Radar, a comprehensive overview of the technologies we use, explore, and evaluate at Goosicorn. The purpose of this radar is to share insights about our current technology environment and to guide our teams in making informed decisions about technology adoption and usage.

Our radar is organized into four quadrants:

  • Languages and Frameworks: The building blocks of our projects, including programming languages and development frameworks.
  • Methods and Patterns: The techniques and strategies that shape our approach to software development.
  • Platforms and Operations: The environments and tools that host our applications, manage our data, and automate our operations.
  • Tools: The software and utilities that support our development and operational processes.

Each technology in our radar is assigned to one of four rings, indicating our stance on its adoption:

  • ADOPT: Technologies we have high confidence in to serve our purpose, also recommended for wide use.
  • TRIAL: Technologies that are promising and have been used in projects to assess their impact and applicability.
  • ASSESS: Technologies that are on our radar for potential future use, requiring further research and evaluation.
  • HOLD: Technologies not recommended for new projects, to be used cautiously.
